About Me
I live near Des Moines, IA and I am currently a software engineer with a shipping analytics company in New Jersey. My primary development skills include Javascript, PHP, WordPress, React, C#, CSS, Ruby on Rails, Classic ASP, MySQL, PostgreSQLand MS SQL Server.
I have been a web developer since 2001, when I worked part-time for the University of Northern Iowa while studying for my B.A. in Management Information Systems. After graduation I went to work for The Mudd Group, an automotive advertising company in Cedar Falls, IA. For the first couple years I was the sole developer at the company and was in charge of creating all intranet applications.
From April 2006 to July 2020 I was a web developer for New Directions in Computing. In that role I worked with many different clients on an ongoing basis, doing everything from simple bug fixes and upgrades to complete project creation and project management. That allowed me to learn multiple development languages to suit each client's needs and keep up with current trends in web development. Much of the work done during the latter years was focused on WordPress.
In August 2020 I began working as a software engineer at Hy-Vee, a midwest grocery store chain, focusing on web development with JavaScript/React/Node.js. I also worked with C# for APIs and desktop applications, along with working on several legacy applications.
Since July 2021 I have been working as a software engineer for Intelligent Audit, working mostly with JavaScript, PHP, and PostgreSQL.
I have lived in Iowa my entire life except for some time spent in Singapore on various occasions. I have been working from my home office since 2006.
